Kathmandu: A video clip of UML supporters has been trending on social media since the last week of Kartik. A middle-aged woman shouting “Ayo Ayo” in a group carrying flags and chanting slogans has gone viral. After she says “Ayo Ayo,” others in the procession respond with “Emale (UML) Ayo”
In the past week, online sellers have started using the same clip to promote their products. In these promotions, users post the woman’s “Ayo Ayo” clip, similar to how Deusi is played. Then they show their products and give details about them, just like during Deusi.
TikTok ID ‘Hamropahiran78’ posted a video saying “250 ko bag Ayo,” using the same viral clip. In the video, a young woman promotes a women’s handbag while holding two bags in her hands. As of this writing, the video has nearly 350,000 views and 6,900 likes. Some users have commented that “Ayo Ayo” has finally been used in the right place. Some say it is a good marketing method, while most have shown interest in the bag promoted in the video.
Another TikTok ID, ‘Flower crew nepal,’ also posted a video saying “Ayo Ayo 4500 ma gamla Ayo.” In the video, a young man promotes different pots and plants. The video has more than 357,000 views.
Similarly, TikTok user ‘Dibash creation’ has made a video following the same trend. It promotes “Ayo 1500 ma Music promotion” The video has nearly 23,000 views. An ID named ‘KUNWAR-G’ has also advertised photo frames using the hashtag “Ayo Ayo,” saying “Ek Saya Wala Ayo” ‘Shrestha mobile care Damak CM’ also followed the trend, making a video saying “iPhone 13 Ayo for just 77 thousand” That video has more than 17,000 views.
Not only on TikTok, but also on Facebook and other platforms, many business owners have promoted their products using this trend. Some users call this style of promotion “jhole.” Others take it positively, saying that viral content is being used creatively to boost business.
But before business owners used the clip, it had already been used to criticize parties, including UML. On November 13, TikTok ID ‘MCB VLOGS’ made a video saying “Masubhat Ayo” using the woman’s “Ayo Ayo” clip. The video has more than 700,000 views and over 50,000 likes. Other users have posted similar content saying “Masubhat Ayo.” Now, instead of using it negatively, more business owners are using the viral clip to promote their products.
