Scam Alert: Fraudsters Use Nepal Bank’s Name To Run Online Job Ads

Kathmandu: A fraud gang using the name and logo of Nepal Bank Limited has been found active on social media by offering fake “online jobs.” The bank has urged the public to stay alert as scams using deceptive advertisements that look official have increased.

These ads, especially on Facebook, tempt people with claims that they can earn Rs 1,000 to Rs 2,000 by working 2–3 hours a day.

Nepal Bank issued a notice on Wednesday urging people to avoid such misleading advertisements. In the notice, the bank warned against sharing personal information with anyone, saying scammers are trying to deceive the public financially by offering false job opportunities.

The screenshot of the fraudulent advertisement published by the bank shows the logo of Nepal Rastra Bank. These sponsored Facebook ads appear to target the unemployed, inexperienced, and those hoping to earn large amounts of money in a short time. They claim that no experience is needed and that a mobile phone is enough to start working by clicking the link.

At first, to gain trust, the scammers ask users to complete simple tasks like liking posts or subscribing to YouTube channels. They send a small payment in return. Once the user gains confidence, the scammers push them to invest. They gradually increase the investment amounts through various temptations. Finally, when a large sum is involved or the victim cannot pay more, the scammers disappear.

With online fraud incidents increasing, Nepal Bank has urged the public to adopt precautionary measures to avoid falling victim to such scams.
