Google Enables Username Change Feature for Nepali Users After Global Rollout

Kathmandu. The option to change Google account usernames is now available for users in Nepal as well. The feature, which Google announced about five months ago, has now been gradually rolled out to Nepali users.

With this update, users can change their Gmail username while keeping their emails, files, and account history intact across services such as Google Photos and Google Drive. Google has described it as one of its most significant account-level updates in recent years, aimed at giving users greater flexibility without affecting stored data.

Once updated, users can switch to a new username while still receiving emails sent to their old address. Both the old and new usernames can be used to log in. The platform also allows users to revert to their previous username if needed.

However, Google has placed limits on the frequency of changes. Users can change their username once per year, with a maximum of three changes per account.

How to change your Google account username

The username refers to the name that appears before “@gmail.com.” Users can change it by following a few steps through their account settings.

  • To do so, open the Gmail app and tap the profile icon in the top right corner. Then select “Manage Your Google Account.”

  • Next, go to the “Personal Info” section.

  • Scroll down to the “Email” option.

  • Tap on your current username under the Google Account email section.

  • You will then be prompted to enter your account password.

  •  After verification, proceed to the “Change Google Account email” option and select a new username of your choice.

  • Once confirmed, the new username will be applied to the account.
