Multimedia lab worth Rs 30 million to be built at Tribhuvan University's Journalism Department

Kathmandu: The government has allocated Rs 30 million to establish a multimedia lab at the Central Department of Journalism and Mass Communication of Tribhuvan University. The Ministry of Finance approved the budget at the initiative of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, and the lab will be set up in the department's camera building.

According to the department, the state-of-the-art facility will be used for film and television production. “This lab will help enhance the department’s academic and professional capacity. We will use it for film and television production,” the department stated in its notice.

The department had submitted a proposal five months ago following several discussions with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology and the Ministry of Finance, requesting budget approval for the project. The government has now allocated the funds in line with that proposal.

On Sunday, Department Head Dr. Kundan Aryal and Faculty Member Dr. Debraj Aryal received an official letter from Communications Minister Prithvi Subba Gurung confirming the budget approval for the lab’s construction.
