Kathmandu: The short video of the Nepali children’s song Aafai Sanga Aafai Danga has set a new record by crossing 1 billion views on YouTube Shorts. Released on Rambabu Subedi’s YouTube channel, the video reached this milestone in just eight months.
Composer Deepak Sharma claimed that this is the first Nepali song to join the “Billion Club.” Uploaded on February 17, 2025, the video has now surpassed 1.23 billion views and nearly 6 million likes.
“This is the first music video from Nepal to reach the billion mark. It is gaining 40 to 50 million views every day,” Sharma told Tekpana. “It seems the emotion of the song has connected with audiences worldwide, even beyond the words.”
Sharma added that the use of subtitles and the song’s simple, easy-going style helped it resonate with viewers globally. The song features lyrics by Rambabu Subedi and is performed by children.
According to Sharma, the video’s success will inspire Nepali creators and encourage them to produce more content at an international level.
Rajendra Aryal, a technician in the Nepali music industry, also noted that Aafai Sanga Aafai Danga is the first Nepali short music video to achieve this milestone.
