Rate My Neta Rankings: Gopal Hamal Tops List, Balen Fourth: Who Stands Where

Kathmandu: Dhangadhi Sub-Metropolitan City Mayor Gopal Hamal has emerged as the most popular leader on the online platform Rate My Neta. The platform measures public approval of Nepali political figures through upvotes and downvotes.

According to publicly available data, Hamal tops the list with a 97 percent approval rating. He received more than 7,300 upvotes and 256 downvotes out of over 7,500 total votes.

Sagar Dhakal is ranked second with a 95 percent approval rating. He has received around 6,500 upvotes and 341 downvotes from nearly 6,900 votes. Dhakal is affiliated with the RSP.

Former RSP leader Sumana Shrestha stands third with a 94 percent approval rating. She received more than 8,200 positive votes and 509 negative votes out of about 8,700.

Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor Balendra Shah (Balen) is ranked fourth. He holds a 94 percent approval rating, with about 8,600 upvotes and 535 downvotes from 9,100 votes.

Sobita Gautam of the RSP is fifth with a 92 percent approval rating. She received around 6,300 upvotes and 564 downvotes out of nearly 6,900 votes.

Lalitpur Metropolitan City Mayor Chiribabu Maharjan is sixth with a 90 percent rating. He received about 6,100 positive votes and 643 negative votes from 6,700 votes.

Nisha Dangi of the RSP ranks seventh with an 89 percent approval rating. Hari Dhakal follows in eighth place with 88 percent approval. Dr. Toshima Karki of the RSP is ninth, with about 6,300 upvotes and 883 downvotes.

Dr. Swarnim Wagle, Vice President of the RSP, is ranked tenth. He received around 6,400 upvotes and 922 downvotes out of 7,300 votes.

Dharan Sub-Metropolitan City Mayor Hark Sampang has an approval rating of 86 percent. He received about 7,300 upvotes and 1,200 downvotes from 8,500 votes.

Rabi Lamichhane, President of the RSP, has a 78 percent approval rating. He received around 7,500 positive votes and 1,900 negative votes out of 8,300.

Among leaders of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP), Gyanendra Shahi has a 74 percent approval rating. Party Chair Rajendra Lingden has 70 percent, while Rabindra Mishra stands at 69 percent. CPN (UML) leader Vidya Bhattarai has a 67 percent approval rating.

Data from the platform shows very low approval ratings for top leaders of major parties. Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has an approval rating of just 10 percent, with more than 8,000 downvotes out of 8,900 votes.

KP Sharma Oli, Chair of CPN (UML), has a 2 percent approval rating. He received over 9,000 negative votes out of 9,200. Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba and leader Dr. Arju Rana both have approval ratings of just 1 percent.

Rate My Leader is an open platform where users can create accounts and rate leaders through upvotes and downvotes. Approval ratings are calculated based on the percentage of positive votes received.
