Kathmandu. A claim circulating widely on social media over the past few days alleging that a woman from Chitwan gave birth to five puppies has been confirmed as false. A fact-check by TechPana FactCheck Desk has confirmed that the claim is completely false and that the image was artificially generated.
Claim
TikTok user Sahadev Rai posted a screenshot originally taken from Facebook on May 26, 2026. The image shows a hospital background labeled “Chitwan Hospital,” where a woman is seen lying on a hospital bed holding puppies, with a nurse standing nearby.
The text in the image reads, “A miraculous incident at Chitwan Hospital! Everyone is amazed by the news that a woman gave birth to five puppies at once,” while another caption states, “Birth of a dog in Chitwan.”
By the time of verification, the content had already amassed over 8 million views, more than 215,000 likes, nearly 5,000 comments, and over 12,000 saves. See the original post and screenshot.

Investigation
The TechPana Fact Check Desk began its verification by searching keywords such as “Chitwan woman gives birth to a dog,” which led to multiple social media posts circulating the same claim.
A user identified as Lokesh Chettry had shared the same content in a Facebook group named “Nepali News” on May 26, 2026, at 11:22 a.m. See the original post, archived post, and screenshot.

The Facebook page “Haathi Gothalo” posted the claim on May 23, 2026. The post garnered over 400 reactions, 67 comments, and was shared 15 times. See the original post and screenshot.

Similarly, the Facebook page “Kalikot Khabar” also shared a post with the same claim. At the time of reporting, the post had received 233 reactions, 19 comments, and had been shared 24 times. See the original post and screenshot.

Some posts included hashtags such as “funny post” and “made-up news,” suggesting entertainment intent. However, the content was widely circulated without a clear context, contributing to misinformation.
A reverse image search was conducted, which initially led to the website of Chitwan Hospital Pvt. Ltd. However, inconsistencies were identified, including a mismatched hospital logo. Additionally, the nurse’s apron in the image contained incorrect spelling, and the ID card text appeared digitally altered. The puppies in the image also showed visual inconsistencies, with unclear and merged outlines, suggesting manipulation.
Further analysis using Hive Moderation indicated a 99.9 percent probability that the image was AI-generated.
Subsequent testing using AI detection tools showed mixed results. While Gemini indicated that this photo was not created by its AI tool, OpenAI’s detection tool confirmed that the image was generated using its AI model.
No credible news reports or official confirmations supporting the claim were found during the investigation.
