Kathmandu. The social media-driven ‘Cockroach Janata Party’ has announced a protest in New Delhi, demanding the resignation of Indian Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over controversies surrounding national examinations.
The group has called for a peaceful demonstration at Jantar Mantar on Saturday and announced the plan through its social media platforms. The protest is expected to focus on concerns related to the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) and examinations conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).
The party, which gained widespread attention online with its stated goal of changing the nature of political discourse in India, held its first press conference on Wednesday. During the event, it also unveiled the names of its three spokespersons.
Party founder Abhijeet Dipke, along with Ladakh-based activist Sonam Wangchuk and other members, said they would gather in the capital and seek official permission to hold the demonstration. The organization has also urged young people across India to participate in the protest.
The campaign has attracted support from several artists and social activists. Sonam Wangchuk recently announced his decision to join the movement, while South Indian actor Prakash Raj expressed solidarity through a post on the social media platform X and indicated he is attempting to attend the protest.
Organizers say the demonstration aims to raise concerns over examination-related controversies and press for accountability from the education ministry.
