Kathmandu: Meta has officially launched the content monetization program for Facebook creators in Nepal. The company has begun notifying users through emails that the service is now live.
This has opened a new income stream for Nepali content creators. Rajendra Aryal, active in the technology sector, confirmed the development after contacting Meta. The company said content monetization has officially started in Nepal.
Meta stated, “Yes, Nepali content creators can now use their local bank accounts to withdraw earnings from Facebook content monetization. Meta has officially launched this feature and started sending payments directly to Nepali bank accounts.”
With this, eligible users in Nepal can now receive their earnings directly in their bank accounts by selecting ‘Nepal’ as the country and filling in their bank details while setting up the payout account.
“Earlier, some creators were receiving payments through different indirect means,” Aryal said. “But now, with the official launch, the process has become easier and more reliable. Nepali
Before content monetization, Facebook used to pay creators in limited areas under three programs. First, ‘Instream Ads’. This is an advertisement that appears in long videos. Second, ‘Ads on Reels’. That is, payment is given based on the advertisement being shown in reels. And, third, ‘Performance Bonus.’ This is the amount that Facebook sends as a bonus based on video, photo and text posts.
From August 31, Meta has permanently replaced Instream Ads and Ads on Reels. That is, all three monetization programs that were launched earlier will now fall under ‘Facebook Content Monetization’.
Who is eligible for monetization?
Meta has not yet decided whether to directly put users who meet these criteria in content monetization. Currently, Meta is selecting eligible creators itself, which is called ‘Invite Only’.
Creators who receive such an invitation from Meta will be able to set up payouts from Meta Business Suite and Professional Dashboard. Users who have not received an invitation yet can request it by clicking here.
In this way, creators eligible for content monetization can set up payouts. Similarly, the creator must have fully complied with the Partner Monetization Policy and Content Monetization Policy. In this way, Meta provides funds to creators who have been operating continuously without violating any policy. Meta determines how much money to pay based on the videos, reels, stories, and text photos that the creator posts. To earn money from videos, the video must be at least 15 seconds long.
Facebook has made it clear that such pages cannot earn money if they are copyrighted, branded content, contain inappropriate language, content is deleted, the creator has disabled ads, or have increased engagement in an unauthorized way. Even if someone else’s content is posted and a third party has claimed it, the third party can still claim the income from the post.
To find out if the page is eligible for content monetization, open the Facebook page on your mobile. Then go to the Professional Dashboard. And, go to Monetization and select the Content Monetization option.
Then, you can accept the terms and conditions and complete the ‘Complete’ setup by filling in the payment details. You can follow the same process by going to Meta Business Suite on your computer.
