Tribhuvan University Signs MoU With Airbus to Advance Aerospace Training, Research, and Digital Skills in Nepal

Kathmandu. Tribhuvan University (TU) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with global aerospace company Airbus to support the development of skilled human resources for Nepal’s aerospace sector.

According to Airbus, the collaboration will focus on educational development, research, training, industry exposure, and joint initiatives related to aerospace technology.

The agreement was signed on Thursday by Airbus South Asia President and Managing Director Jürgen Westermeier and Tribhuvan University Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Sushil Bahadur Bajracharya.

Airbus stated that Nepal’s Minister for Education and Sports, Sasmit Pokharel, and French Ambassador to Nepal H.E. Virginie Corteval were present during the signing ceremony. Senior officials from the Ministry of Tourism, Culture, and Civil Aviation, along with Airbus representatives, also attended the event.

Speaking after the signing, Westermeier said talent development remains the foundation of a strong aerospace ecosystem.

“Through this partnership with Tribhuvan University, we will leverage Airbus’s global expertise to support capacity building in Nepal through training and skill development in aerospace engineering and digital technologies,” he said.

Vice Chancellor Bajracharya said collaboration with a global aerospace company like Airbus would help modernize and strengthen TU’s academic curriculum.

“This partnership will also contribute to strengthening Nepal’s aviation capabilities, and we believe it will help shape a promising future for the country’s aerospace sector,” he said.

Under the agreement, Airbus and Tribhuvan University will collaborate in research, teaching, and training activities to improve students’ understanding of scientific, technical, and managerial subjects related to aerospace and aviation.

The partnership will also support the development of academic curriculum related to aerospace, aviation, and digital technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), advanced analytics, and cybersecurity.

Both sides will further explore opportunities for industry-led programs involving Airbus experts, partnerships with international institutions, internship and placement opportunities for students, as well as seminars, conferences, technical festivals, and workshops related to research and innovation.
