KU Agriculture Club to Host ‘Agri Hackathon 2026’ on June 22; Winner to Receive Rs 50,000

Kathmandu. Kathmandu University Agriculture Club (KUAC) is set to organize an ‘Agri Hackathon’ under its event ‘Agri Pulse 2026’, scheduled for June 22, with the theme “Smart and Resilient Agriculture for Nepal’s Future.”
The club has opened applications for participation until June 19. Teams must consist of three to four members, and at least one member from each team must be a student of agricultural science. KUAC has stated that teams without an agriculture student will be assisted in pairing with eligible participants.
The registration fee is set at Rs 3,500 per team, while students of BSc Agriculture at Kathmandu University and club members can register at a discounted rate of Rs 2,750. Students can register their group for the hackathon by clicking here.
Ahead of the competition, online mentoring sessions will be conducted from June 17 to 19 via a Discord platform, where participants will receive training on prompt engineering, AI tools, business model development and investment strategies.
Organizers said teams can develop their ideas remotely, focusing on solutions related to soil health, crop protection, market management and climate-smart agriculture. Selected teams will present their prototypes or business models at the exhibition to be held at the university in Dhulikhel, Kavre, on June 22.
Accommodation will be arranged for participants traveling from outside the region.
The winning team will receive Rs 50,000, while the first runner-up will be awarded Rs 30,000. Alongside the hackathon, the event will also feature research paper presentations, an agriculture olympiad, talk shows, exhibitions, and cultural programs.
