DishHome Go Sees Over Two Lakh Viewers Watching NPL Opening Match, Claims No Technical Issues in Live Broadcast

Kathmandu: DishHome has said that more than two lakh viewers watched the opening match of the Nepal Premier League live on its OTT platform, DishHome Go. The company stated that this number reached “concurrent viewership” during the opening match between Janakpur Bolts and Kathmandu Gorkha.

DishHome, which is broadcasting NPL live worldwide except in India, has claimed that hosting so many viewers in a single match has proven its technical capabilities. DishHome Go says it is the first Nepali company to broadcast a live match fully through a mobile app.

Some users faced issues watching the live broadcast during the opening match. The company claims the problem occurred due to the systemic process involving multiple parties, not only DishHome Go. It said the technical complications seen in the NPL season pass subscription process created inconvenience for iOS users, while Android users subscribed and watched the live broadcast easily.

The company said engineers from the DishHome Go app and experts from world-class partners worked continuously to resolve the issue, and many problems were fixed on the first day. From the second day, iOS users also started purchasing the NPL season pass and watching the live broadcast without difficulty.

The company said it resolved almost all technical challenges on the second and third days. Thousands of requests received through DishHome Go’s official channel have been activated by the system. The company has also begun processing refunds for users who made double payments.

For more convenience, the company has introduced the option to purchase NPL season pass vouchers through Khalti and eSewa from Wednesday. DishHome says vouchers purchased from Khalti and eSewa can be used only in Nepal.

Each person can purchase as many vouchers as needed. The company says this is helping families and friends collaborate and watch NPL easily through mobile.

DishHome Go claims to have completed a challenging task and established itself as the first Nepali company to broadcast live sports entirely through a mobile app in Nepal’s history.

According to the company, DishHome Go is now on its journey to become a world-class live broadcasting platform, crossing national borders and securing its place among popular streaming services globally.

“The technical challenges we faced were not only ours but also related to the processes of various stakeholders. On the first day, due to various difficulties in providing a smooth experience to all users, about 200,000 viewers were able to watch easily when we arranged free viewing. From the second and third days, everyone has been able to watch the live broadcast with a full subscription. We consider this a historic achievement in the Nepali live broadcasting sector. We apologize for the inconvenience caused to viewers and express our commitment to refund repeated payments,” the company said in a statement.
