Institute Of Forestry, Hetauda To Host ‘Hult Prize’ Competition Again After Five Years

Hetauda: After a gap of nearly five years, the ‘Hult Prize’ competition is set to return to Hetauda. The Institute of Forestry, Hetauda Campus, is organizing this year’s campus competition with the joint participation of three campuses.

Students from the Institute of Forestry, Faculty of Forestry, Hetauda, and Kathmandu Forestry College will compete at the same venue at the Institute of Forestry, Hetauda Campus. Campus Director Binay Timilsina said preparations are progressing rapidly for the grand finale, which is scheduled to be held in the last week of Magh or the first week of Falgun.

He said the campus is enthusiastic about resuming the competition after it was disrupted for several years. “The Hult Prize has made a significant contribution to students’ entrepreneurship, innovation, and ability to solve social problems,” Director Timilsina said.

Assistant Campus Director Sushmita Muktan also expressed excitement about the competition. She said student interest and participation on campus are very high. “Students are motivated to come up with new ideas and socially impactful plans,” she said. According to her, the Hult Prize is an international competition held every year, and winning teams get the opportunity to compete at national and international levels.

Until last year, the program was mainly limited to the regional level. It has now been expanded to the national level. Uncampus winning teams from across the country participated in the national competition held in Kathmandu. Earlier, the Institute of Forestry, Pokhara, and Hetauda had jointly organized the program, with only three special groups from Hetauda taking part.

A 19-member organizing committee has been formed to make this year’s edition more organized and effective. “This competition has been very fruitful in developing students’ capacity. This year, we aim to organize a larger and more effective program,” Director Timilsina said.
