Kathmandu: Nepal Telecom has started testing an online system to update and correct customer details (KYC) for GSM prepaid SIM users. The trial has begun from the Telecommunications Office in Sundhara, where customers can update their KYC by scanning a QR code.
The service was jointly inaugurated by Nepal Telecom’s Chief Commercial Officer Ganga Sagar Matanche and Bagmati Province Director Indal Yadav. Through this system, customers who need to correct their name or other details can scan the QR code available at the office and fill out the form digitally.
Chief Commercial Officer Matanche said the facility will help make Nepal Telecom’s services more customer-friendly. Bagmati Province Director Yadav said the use of technology will allow more work to be completed in less time and improve overall productivity.
According to Nirmal Chataut, Chief of the Telecommunications Office, Sundhara, the system supports digital transformation and paperless operations. He said the process will make KYC updates faster and easier. The details entered by customers through the QR code will be automatically updated after verification by Nepal Telecom’s system.
Nepal Telecom said that if the Sundhara trial is successful, the service will be gradually expanded to other offices in the Kathmandu Valley and across the country. The company also said preparations are underway to allow customers to update prepaid SIM KYC directly from home through its official website and mobile app in the near future.
