Kathmandu: The driving license feature that had disappeared from the Nagarik app has now been restored. The feature, which went offline after the central server of the Department of Transport Management was destroyed during the Gen-Z protest, has been reactivated on the app from Tuesday.
Millions of service seekers were affected after the service shut down due to the damage to the central server. With the feature restored, drivers can now show their digital licenses through the Nagarik app during traffic checks.
In addition, awareness classes for traffic rule violations can now be taken online through the app. The Nagarik app has advised users to restart the app if their driving license does not appear on their mobile devices.
During the Gen-Z protest on 8 and 9 September, the building of the Department of Transport Management in Minbhavan was heavily vandalized and set on fire. The central server containing all transport-related records was destroyed in the incident.
