29 Candidates Shortlisted for NTA Chairperson Post, Law Member Applications to Reopen

Kathmandu. The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology has shortlisted 29 candidates for the vacant chairperson position of the Nepal Telecommunications Authority (NTA), while three applicants were found ineligible during the screening process.

According to the list of eligible candidates published by the ministry on Tuesday, a total of 32 applications had been received for the chairperson post. Following verification of minimum qualifications, experience and required documents, 29 candidates were selected for the next stage.

The selection process for the Authority's board members is also underway. However, the ministry has decided to invite fresh applications for the law member position after finding an insufficient number of eligible candidates.

According to the ministry, although four applications were received for the law member post, the number of eligible candidates fell below the required threshold after screening, necessitating a new application process.

Several applicants for other board positions were also found ineligible.

For the accounting and auditing member position, six of the nine applicants met the eligibility criteria. Similarly, four out of five applicants qualified for the market management member position.

The administration and technical member category attracted the highest number of applications, with 15 candidates applying. Of these, 11 were found eligible for further evaluation.

The ministry has set a postgraduate degree in a relevant field and at least 10 years of experience as the minimum qualification for the chairperson position. Candidates seeking member positions must hold a bachelor's degree and have at least seven years of professional experience.

Applicants were also required to submit a professional work plan of 3,000 to 5,000 words outlining their vision for improving the Authority.

The ministry said final recommendations will be made based on the evaluation of work plans, presentations, and interviews conducted during the selection process.
