Kathmandu. Nepal-developed air pollution monitoring platform VayuDrishti has been featured in the United Nations’ ‘STI Solutions Book 2026’, which highlights some of the world’s best technologies and innovations supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The publication has been prepared by the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs as part of the 11th Multi-Stakeholder Forum on Science, Technology and Innovation.
More than 900 innovation applications from different countries were submitted for the 2026 edition. Following rigorous technical evaluation, effectiveness assessment and detailed screening, VayuDrishti was selected among the top 60 practical, scalable and impactful solutions.
What is VayuDrishti and How Does It Work?
Developed under Bots Industries Pvt. Ltd., VayuDrishti is a hardware and software integrated system designed to make air pollution visible and understandable through an artificial intelligence-based platform.
The system combines low-cost ground sensor networks, satellite data and AI-powered analytics to provide real-time air quality information and pollution forecasts.
Along with monitoring pollution levels, the platform also provides alerts and actionable recommendations to communities, industries, schools and government agencies regarding the health and environmental impacts of pollution.
The recognition highlights Nepal’s growing capability to develop technologies that can address complex global challenges, particularly at a time when air pollution, climate change and public health risks are rapidly increasing worldwide.
The ‘STI Solutions Book 2026’ focuses on innovations contributing to clean water, accessible energy, industry and infrastructure, sustainable cities, and global partnerships to support progress toward the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda.
“This recognition is a proud moment not only for us, but for the whole of Nepal,” the team behind VayuDrishti said. “VayuDrishti started with a simple goal — to make invisible air pollution visible through technology and help keep communities safe with accurate information. The recognition from the United Nations has given us even more motivation to build world-class technology from Nepal.”
Following the recognition, VayuDrishti said it plans to further expand environmental data access, promote clean air initiatives, and support the development of a healthier and more sustainable future in Nepal and beyond.
