Kathmandu. Ride-hailing platform Uber has begun sending emails to users in Nepal who registered their details on the platform, signaling preparations for the company’s anticipated service launch in the country.
Through its official email address, users received a message stating, “Hello Nepal, your Uber has arrived!” The email also featured the text “Uber is now live in Kathmandu!” alongside an AI-generated image of Kathmandu’s Swayambhunath temple.
Uber has customized its mobile application for Nepal, with the app’s homepage now featuring Nepal-themed visuals generated using artificial intelligence.
Users testing the platform can see that features such as maps and location services are operational. However, ride booking services are not yet active, indicating that the platform remains in a testing phase.

On the driver side, the app has started accepting and verifying documents including driving licenses and vehicle bluebooks. Although some drivers have reportedly received approval for submitted documents, the company has not yet issued any formal instructions or official notifications regarding operations in Nepal.

Despite these developments, Nepal has not yet been officially listed among the countries served on Uber’s official website. However, the company is expected to make a formal announcement regarding its Nepal operations in the coming days.
